Writing Without Fear

If you’ve ever thought of writing a book – and who hasn’t? – but think you can’t, you are wrong. If you know how to wrestle words to the ground, avoid laundry, dusting, mowing the lawn, cleaning the garage, or if you procrastinate on a regular basis, you have the beginnings being of a writer. In this three-hour class, you allay your fears and build a plan to guide you through a unique step-by-step approach to get started, to build a structure, and to establish markers to chart your progress.

March 2, 9:30a-12:30p; March 10, 5:30-8:30; April 14, 5:30-8:30p

Start Your Writing Engines:  Are you a writer without direction? Maybe you just completed a project or have run out of ideas about what to do next. Maybe you have a subject, but not clarity about what to do with it. Bring it before other writers and together, refuel new energy into your next project or fire up your engine to leave writer’s block in the dust and capture the checkered flag.

March 3, 9:30a-12:30p; March 23 9:30a-12:30p; April 14, 9:30a-12:30p

Truth Telling Through Fiction: Do you have a story to share?  Yes, you do. Explore story elements & get started writing the short story or novel that is in your head or your heart. Students read excerpts from classic and contemporary short stories, receive story resources, find a first line and structure to move forward.*   March 5, 9:30a-12:30p; March 9, 5:30-8:30.

Dreams:   Physicians recognize the subconscious is often awake when we’re not. Dreams hold great significance in most cultures as warnings, guides, or reassurance. Maybe it’s time we listen. Do not expect tools to interpret dreams. Instead, learn how journaling dreams can help you see patterns that may inform your understanding of a situation or relationship that remains unresolved. By increasing your awareness, you gain insight into dreams and how dreams serve you. March 10, 10:30-12:30; March 11, 6:00-8:00.  Note: 2 hr. class
